I gifted this to his sister. I heard once that if you can capture the right feel of a person in their portrait it can hold a piece of their soul and live on forever…….that wry smile and those eyes looking like he is laughing at a joke that he's keeping to himself lol.

Capturing a moment in someone's life is difficult sometimes. I love art for this reason…….if not just to bring back a moment, or a feeling or memory for someone. it can be special for them…..and only them, no one will have the same emotional connection with the artwork than they do. I like that.

So…….I hadn’t painted with oils for a while and wanted to have a little practice so I decided to paint a little self-portrait. I grabbed a couple of wooden board canvasses from my local art supply and had a go straight onto the wood. Usually I would gesso before but I liked the wood grain showing through.

I love the passion and enthusiasm this young soul has for the planet. Some people may not share her views but you cannot deny the fact that she is getting her concerns out there and bringing a spotlight to the issue of climate change.
At the very least, and despite the varying views on the subject, when it comes down to it she wants a healthier planet which is in everyone's best interest surely……….you cant deny that.
